ASRIC Delegation Visits President Şeker
African Union (AU) A delegation from the African Scientific, Research, and Innovation Council (ASRIC) (an organization under the African Union Scientific, Technical, and Research Commission (AU-STRC) dedicated to science, research, and innovation) visited Prof. Dr. Muzaffer Şeker, President of the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA), as part of its working visit to Türkiye.
The delegation, representing ASRIC, headquartered in Abuja, and conducting meetings in Ankara and Istanbul, met with the TÜBA President to exchange views on enhancing Türkiye-Africa cooperation in the fields of science, research, technology, and innovation.
During the meeting, ahead of the 4th Türkiye-Africa Partnership Summit, discussions focused on establishing institutional cooperation between the two organizations, identifying areas for collaboration, and evaluating potential scientific initiatives. The main theme of the visit was the strengthening of scientific and academic relations and cooperation between Türkiye and African countries, increasing interaction among researchers, and developing joint projects. The ASRIC delegation included ASRIC Executive Director Dr. Ahmed Hamdy, ASRIC President Prof. Dr. Sammy Chunbow, and ASRIC Vice President Prof. Dr. Khalid Ghedera. During the meeting held as part of the visit, attention was drawn to the importance of evaluating Türkiye’s expertise in science and technology alongside the African continent’s research and innovation potential on the basis of mutual benefit. A consensus was reached on concretizing potential collaborations between the two institutions.
