Nihâyetü’s-sûl fī taṣḥîḥi’l-uṣûl, written by İbnü’ş-Şâtır, one of the leading astronomers of the Islamic world in the 14th century, examines new planetary models and astronomical theories. İbnü’ş-Şâtır criticizes Batlamyus’s planetary models and develops more precise and accurate models based on his own observations and calculations. This innovative approach later also serves as a source of inspiration for Copernicus’s work. Nihâyetü’s-sûl fī taṣḥîḥi’l-uṣûl consists of a study, translation, and critical edition. The work, which had important effects on the transition to modern astronomy, opens a path toward bringing to light scientific activities in the Islamic world, transmitting them to future generations, and ensuring theoretical continuity by being revisited together with its manuscript copies in Türkiye.
