Ferec Baʿde’ş-Şidde is the collective name for books in classical Arabic literature that compile anonymous folk tales in the style of the “One Thousand and One Nights.” Its meaning is expressed as “attaining happiness after enduring hardship.” In the course of the history of the Turkish language, from the 13th century to the 16th century, during the period known as “Old Anatolian Turkish” or “Old Turkish,” Ferec Baʿde’ş-Şidde was one of the most widely read works translated from Arabic literature into Turkish literature. The Turkish translation of the anonymous stories of Arabic literature titled Ferec Baʿde’ş-Şidde appears in three different versions. The first is a translation from Persian by Kasım b. Mehmed, consisting of 42 stories.
