TUBA was in Ankara with TEKNOFEST

Türkiye’s groundbreaking Aerospace and Technology Festival (TEKNOFEST), in which TÜBA was among the participants, was held in Ankara between August 30 and September 3.

Journey into the history of science exhibition
TÜBA organized the "History of Science" exhibition in cooperation with the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye, Presidential Library, and the Islamic History of Science Research Foundation (İBTAV), offering science enthusiasts the opportunity to see the models of the works invented by Muslim scientists centuries ago. In this context, dozens of artifacts such as Nureddin Zengi's Portable Sundial, Takiyüddin's Wheel Lever for Lifting Heavy Objects, Ibn Al-Haytham's Instrument for Determining the Meridian Direction became the center of attention of thousands of visitors. TÜBA also presented the works it has published from energy, history, health sciences, and reports on Türkiye's current problems to basic sciences.

TEKNOFEST Ankara, of which Anadolu Agency (AA) is the global communication partner, was carried out under the leadership of the Technology Team Foundation of Türkiye (T3) and the Ministry of Industry and Technology, with 125 institutions, including ministries, presidencies, public and private sector organizations, academic institutions and media companies that play a critical role in Türkiye's national technology ecosystem. Participation in competitions broke a record in 2023; 1 million young people participated in TEKNOFEST competitions in 337 thousand teams. SoloTürk performed a demonstration flight as part of the festival. A total of 261 stands took their place at the festival, which was established on an area of 215,000 square meters. More than 400 events organized at the stands met with students and young people. At the 8th TEKNOFEST, Turkish Stars, Solo Türk, Hürkuş, Gökbey, Aksungur, Bayraktar TB2, Bayraktar TB3, Gendarmerie Steel Wings, Akıncı, Atak Helicopter and Anka performed demonstration flights.

After Istanbul, the TEKNOFEST Startup Competition was organized for the first time in Ankara. In this competition, especially teams with companies applied to the 'acceleration' category, and teams that had not yet established their companies but had ideas and studies applied to the 'pre-incubation' category. Competitions were organized in 10 themes in very different disciplines such as space/aviation, agriculture, health and education technologies. Teams presented the ideas and initiatives they developed under these headings to academics and experts and were evaluated. In the end, a prize of nearly 10 million dollars was awarded.
