TÜBA Principle Member and Higher Education Board (YÖK) Member and Candidate for President Prof. M. A. Yekta Saraç, was appoint to the President position on November 11, 2014.

In the statement released by the country’s Presidency Press Center, it was reported that Higher Education Board (YÖK) Member Prof. Dr. M. A. Yekta Saraç was appointed as the Higher Education Institute (YÖK) President in accordance with clause (b) of article 6 in the Higher Education Institute Law No. 2547.

Who is Prof. Dr. Yekta Saraç?
He graduated from the Istanbul University Literature Faculty, Turkish Language and Literature Department in1985. The same year he was appointed as a researcher in the Old Turkish Literature Branch of the same department. He graduated in 1987, after his master’s program. In 1992 he was appointed to the assistant associate professor staff. In 1994 he achieved his associate professor title. In the year 2000 he became a professor. Prof. Saraç, who knows one language at advanced level and another at medium level, was chosen for YÖK membership from the Council of Ministers contingency in 2005 and his election was approved by the President of the time, Ahmet Necdet Sezer. On October 19, 2009 he was chosen again from the Council of Ministers contingency to YÖK membership, which was approved by President Abdullah Gül, and he also became a YÖK Executive Board Member on March 13, 2008. Prof. Saraç, who continued to serve as a YÖK President candidate as of January 21, 2010 was elected for a 3rd time in October of 2013 to YÖK membership from the Council of Ministers contingency . On November 6, 2014, when Gökhan Çetinsaya was appointed as the Prime Ministry Chief Advisor, he was appointed as acting YÖK President. He has eight published books and many articles in his field published in a variety of journals. Elected as a TÜBA Principle Member, in 2012, Prof. Dr. M. A.Yekta Saraç specializes in the fields of Ancient Turkish Literature, text annotation and rhetoric.
