TÜBA Principle Member Prof. Dr. Haluk Aydın Topaloğlu Wins the ‘Gaetano Conte Academy Clinical Research Award’

TÜBA Principle Member and Hacettepe University Medical Faculty Teaching Staff Member Prof. Dr. Haluk Aydın Topaloğlu was awarded the Gaetano Conte Academy Clinical Research Award by the Mediterranean Society of Myology (MSM).

When presented with the award at the ceremony that took place on May 19, 2015 in Naples, Prof. Dr. Topaloğlu said how pleased he was to win this award and said it was a great feeling to have his work recognized.

The award presented to Prof. Dr. Haluk Aydın Topaloğlu for the clinical research he has conducted for 25 years on neuromuscular subjects, was also awarded to Prof. Dr. Coşkun Özdemir in the year 2000 for his contributions to muscular diseases in our country and a special award was presented in 2004 to Prof Feyza Deymeer, who organized the MSM conference in Turkey.

The Gaetano Conte Academy Basic Research Award that MSM presents every two years was given to Prof. Claude Desnuel from Nice, France.

The Gaetano Conte Academy, named after Italian Dr. Gaetano Conte the first to identify the illness called Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy in 1836, gives awards to scientists with extraordinary contributions to clinical studies in myology, basic sciences research and social studies.
