TÜBA Principal Member Prof. Dr. İzzet Öztürk Has Been Selected a TÜBİTAK Science Board Member
Selected by TÜBA General Assembly as a candidate, TÜBA Principal and Council Member and Academic Member at ITU Faculty of Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering Prof. Dr. İzzet Öztürk started his duty at TÜBİTAK Science Board Membership as of May 18, 2015 following the Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu’s approval dated June 16, 2015.
Prof. Dr. Öztürk, who has expertise at the international level in the fields of water and wastewater treatment, integrated watershed management, integrated solid waste management, industrial pollution control with anaerobic treatment, has more than 200 scientific publications that are mostly international, 5 books and numerous research / project implementation reports.
Who is Prof. Dr. İzzet Öztürk?
He was born in 1954 in Karabük Eflani. He graduated as a Civil Engineer in 1976 from İstanbul Technical University (ITU) Faculty of Civil Engineering that he started after he graduated from Karabük Demir Çelik High School in 1972. He left Sakarya University Faculty of Engineering in 1978 that he entered as an expert in 1977, and began his career as an assistant in the Department of ITU Environmental Science and Technology. He received Higher Civil and Environmental Engineering in 1979 and doctorate degree in 1982 from the ITU Environmental Engineering Department. He completed post-doctoral studies in Environmental Engineering between the years 1982-1984 at the UK Newcastle University. He took the Associate Professor title in Environmental Sciences and Engineering in 1987. He won TUBITAK Scientific Research and Encouragement Award in 1994. Then he was appointed to full professorship at the ITU Environmental Engineering Department. Being TÜBA Principal Member, a member of International Water Association (IWA), the Chamber of Civil Engineers and Water Pollution Studies Turkish National Committee (SKATMK), Prof. Öztürk is still a giving consultancy to numerous public and private sector organizations. Professor Öztürk has good command of English. He is married and has four children.
