TÜBA Honorary Member Prof. Dr. Burhan Say Has Died

TÜBA Honorary Member and Oklahoma University retired teacher Prof. Dr. Burhan Say, died on August 2, 2014 in Tulsa-Oklahoma.

One of the founders of the Turkish Hematology Association (THA), Prof. Say served at the Hacettepe Child Health Institute between the years 1957-1959, after becoming an associate professor in 1959-1969, he became a professor in 1964-1973 teaching first at the Hacettepe Medical and Health Sciences then at the Hacettepe University after 1967 under its new name.

After going to the US in 1973 Prof. Dr. Burhan Say became the genetic department director of the Children’s Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. In the years 1973-1982 he was assigned as a pediatrics professor in the Oklahoma University and as of 1980 he started as the medical director in the Biochemical Genetics Laboratory of the H.A. Chapman Institute of Medical Genetics in the same location. In 1982 he received his certificate from the American Genetics Board.

With 275 publications, 80 of which are in Turkish, Prof. Dr. Burhan Say also won the ‘İhsan Doğramacı Science Achievement Award’ in 1975.
