TÜBA Council Member Prof. Dr. Muzaffer Şeker and Principal Member Prof. Dr. Mustafa Solak chosen as Principal Members of the ÜHB Board of Directors
TÜBA Council Member Necmettin Erbakan and University Rector Prof. Dr. Muzaffer Şeker and TÜBA Principal Member and Afyon Kocatepe University Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Solak were chosen as Principal Members of the University Hospitals Association (ÜHB) Board of Directors on August 3rd.
ÜHB, which was formed to evaluate the issues of Universities’ Medical Application Research Centers and hospitals, find their causes and find solutions, share their knowledge and experience, to enable contemporary medical services and education and research activities and to promote cooperative action, had its 2nd Extraordinary General Meeting in the Istanbul University Baltalimanı Institution.
In the general assembly where the new administration which will be on duty between 2015-2018 was decided, Prof. Dr. Şeker and Prof. Dr. Solak were chosen for the Principal Membership of Board of Directors along with Ankara University Rector Prof. Dr. Erkan İbiş, Çukurova University Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kibar, Ondokuz Mayıs University Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Akan, Trakya University Rector Prof. Dr. Yener Yörük, Eskişehir Osmangazi University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. İlhami Ünlüoğlu, İstanbul University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Mert Savrun and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Salih Haluk Özsarı. In addition, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Özkağnıcı, Prof. Dr. Hikmet Koçak and Prof. Dr. Rüçhan Akar were appointed as Principal Members of Board of Supervisors.
Prof. Dr. Muzaffer Şeker?
Prof. Dr. Muzaffer Şeker was born in Izmir in 1961. He graduated from Bursa Uludağ University Veterinary School in 1986. In 1995, he got his doctoral degree on Human Anatomy from Leicester University in England. In 2000 he became an associate professor, and in 2006 he became a professor. He has had various offices, including the Turkish Anatomy and Clinical Anatomy Association Board of Directors Membership and presidency, as well as the Basic Medical Sciences Platform Office of Secretary General. While fulfilling the duties of his role as Meram Medical Faculty Medical Education and Informatics Head of Department, in December 2010 he was appointed as the Konya University founding rector and continues his duty as the Rector of Necmettin Erbakan University at present. Prof. Dr. Muzaffer Şeker, who is a member of various commissions of the Turkish Council of High Education, was appointed as a Principal Member of TÜBA in 2012 and to this day is a Council Member of TÜBA. Prof. Dr Şeker has also worked in the board of editors for many scientific journals.
Who is Prof. Dr. Mustafa Solak?
Prof. Dr. Mustafa Solak was born in 1953 in Sivrihisar in Eskisehir. In 1976 he completed his undergraduate education in the Atatürk University Biology Department. He was appointed as research assistant for the Anatolian University Medical Faculty Medical Genetics Professorship in 1980 and in 1985 he completed his doctorate. In the same field he became an assistant professor in 1986, and in 1992 he acquired the title of associate professor. In July 1999 he was appointed as a professor in the Afyon Kocatepe University Medical Faculty.
Prof. Dr. Solak, in the Anatolian University Organisation, has held the positions of Institute of Medical Sciences Vice Principal, GENTAM Vice Principal, Medical Faculty Board of Directors Member, Circulating Capital Enterprise Vice Principal and Principal, respectively.
Prof. Dr. Mustafa Solak was on duty in Celal Bayar University between the years of 1993- 1999. During this period of duty, he was the Medical Faculty Vice Dean, Medical Sciences Institute Board Member and Board of Directors Member, Medical Faculty Board Member and Board of Directors Member and the Medical Biology Department Founding President.
Prof. Dr. Mustafa Solak was appointed to be a professor in July 1999 at Afyon Kocatepe University. Between 1999-2008, he was assigned as the Vice Rector, Dean of the Medical Faculty, Institute Board and Institute Board of Directors Member, Medical Faculty Board and Faculty Board of Directors Member, Basic Medical Sciences Head of Department, Founding Head of Medical Biology Department and Deputy Chairman of the Medical Genetics Department Head.
Prof. Dr. Mustafa Solak was appointed as Chairman Advisor of the Council of High Education in January 2008, in February 2008 to the Higher Education Board of Auditors, and carried out his duty for two years. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Solak, during the time he was working in YÖK, pioneered the preparation of Turkey’s Medical Education and Medical Manpower Situation Report, and also performed the editorial work for it. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Solak was appointed as the Afyon Kocatepe University Rector on March 15, 2011, and in 2012 he was chosen to be a TÜBA Principal Member.
Prof. Dr. Mustafa Solak has, in his field, 32 articles in international journals, 38 in national journals, 42 manifestos in international congresses, 45 in national congresses, and has 31 case reports. He has written chapters in three books in his field, and was the editor of two of those books.
