Prof. Dr. Ahmet Cevat Acar, Re-Elected as TÜBA’s President

Prof. Dr. Ahmet Cevat Acar took 101 of the 113 valid votes in TÜBA’s presidential election held during the 47th General  Assembly in Ankara on 14 June 2015 according to the relevant legislation, and was re-appointed by the Prime Minister Prof. Dr. Ahmet Davutoglu to the TÜBA Presidency.

Prof. Dr. Ahmet Cevat Acar who has been carrying out the Presidency of TÜBA since August 2012 will preside to the Academy for 3 years more in the period 2015-2018.

Prof. Dr. Acar, said about his re-election as the TÜBA President: "It is a great honor to be re-elected with the support of our members, and the Prime Minister's approval to Academy Presidency which I have been conducting for three years, but at the same time it is a great responsibility. Abiding faithfully to the academic, legal and ethical principles, embracing the differences as richness and with the understanding of institutional continuity, our efforts for TÜBA and Turkey to achieve their deserved positions will continue in the coming period.

Besides all the existing programs such as,  "TÜBA-GEBIP and TEÇEP awards, Science Education, Stem Cells and Cancer Study Group, University and Academy Conferences, the Turkish Science Glossary, International Relations and Publications, etc. initiated in this period, Science and Education, the Food and Nutrition Working Groups, International TÜBA Academy Awards, Open Course Ware Awards, Institutional Capacity Development, the Turkish-Islamic Science Culture Heritage and Historical-Etymological Turkish of Turkey Lexicon Projects” etc. are our new programs and projects with which we intend to continue our functions such as "popularizing the science, dissemination of scientific understanding, awarding scientific achievement and advisory based on science". We hope to reach a positive result in our efforts to fulfill the needs for TÜBA’s legislation and building in this period.

Who is Ahmet Cevat Acar?

Prof. Dr. Ahmet Cevat ACR was born in 1960 in Kastamonu Taşköprü. He graduated from Atatürk University Faculty of Business Administration. He completed his master's degree at Istanbul University Faculty of Business "Personnel Management and Industrial Relations"; received his PhD from the IU Institute of Social Sciences, "Business and Personnel Management and Organization". He became respectively "assistant professor", associate professor and professor at the IU School of Business. He was the vice-Chancellor at IU between the years of 2010-2012.

Acar has works in education, research, consultancy, publications and projects in Human Resources Management, Management and Organization, Organizational Behavior areas. He also hold various committees and memberships as well as academic studies membership/presidency of the Faculty Council and Faculty Board Member, Institute of Business and Economics (IIE) Deputy Director and Board Member, Education Coordinator, Strategic Planning Committee Member, Norm Staff Executive, Career Center Board Member, Graduate Programs Directorate, Ministry of Labour and Social Security Occupational Health and Safety Advisory Board for the Strategy Document and also IU vice-chancellor (2010-2012).

Prof. Ahmet Cevat Acar who holds the Presidency of the TÜBA since 2012 is an Advisory Board Member for Labour and Social Security Training and Research Centre (ÇASGEM) and Alternate Member of the Board of Public Referee. He is married and has two children.
