TÜBA President Prof. Dr. Muzaffer Şeker attended the 19th Asian Chemical Congress under the auspices of the Federation of Asian Chemical Societies (FACS) organized by the Turkish Chemical Society at ITU Maslak Campus.

The program, which was opened by TÜBA President Prof. Dr. Muzaffer Şeker, was attended by TÜBA Members TÜBİTAK President Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal, ITU Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Koyuncu, Prof. Dr. Reşat Apak, Prof. Dr. Saim Özkar, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Ersöz, Prof. Dr. Bekir Çetinkaya, Prof. Dr. Sezgin Bakırdere, Congress and FACS Secretary General Assoc. We must build our future on sustainable systems.
Speaking at the world's most widely attended chemistry congress held every two years, President Şeker stated that it was an honor for him to be present at the congress. Starting his speech by giving information about TÜBA and its programs, Prof. Şeker said: "Chemistry helps us solve emerging problems in the world or discover raw materials and transform them into valuable end products with innovative and sustainable solutions. Improvements in efficiency, pollution reduction and the production of clean technology, which are the basic requirements of global crises, can be achieved through green/sustainable chemical principles. Chemistry helps us protect the societies we govern today and in the future in harmony with nature. In particular, taking care to protect the environment and using raw materials with optimum efficiency are the main responsibilities that future generations expect from us. While we have the chance to change things for future generations, let's try to shape our future with sustainable chemistry systems."

Underlining that 15% of TÜBA members, who are composed of highly qualified scientists, work directly or indirectly in the field of chemistry, Şeker said: "As the Academy, we are carrying out many projects in the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye. One of these is the TÜBA Natural Sciences Terms Dictionary, which we plan to publish in 2023. The dictionary will include Turkish translations of important terms used in many basic sciences such as chemistry."
