‘International Human Rights Law Summer School’ in TÜBA- Rabi Madrasah

At TÜBA-Rabi Madrasah, the third International Human Rights Law Summer School was held.

In TÜBA-Rabi Madrasah where national and international organizations are held, the third International Human Rights Law Summer School titled ‘Law on the Bosphourus’ was held between July 29-30 with the cooperation of Istanbul University (İÜ), Leiden University from Holland and Raoul Wallenberg Institute (RWI) from Sweden.

The academic coordinatorship of the Summer School, which had 60 participants from 25 different countries, was held by the TÜBA Chairman Advisor and IU Faculty of Law Lecturer Prof. Dr. İbrahim Kaya and Leiden University’s Assoc. Prof. Pınar Ölçer.

On the first day of the Summer School the Istanbul University Dean of the Faculty of Law Prof. Dr. Adem Sözüer made an opening speech. In the Summer School, a few lessons of which were held in the Rabi Madrasah which Sinan the Architect had constructed and was restored by TÜBA, RWI's Dr. Alejandro Fuentes gave a presentation on ‘Cultural Diversity and Human Rights’, IU’s Prof. Dr. İbrahim Kaya gave one on ‘Syrian Refugees and Human Rights’, Prof. Van Den Herik from Leiden University gave one on ‘International Criminal Law and ‘United Nations Sanctions and Human Rights’ and Dr. Jorrit Rijpma gave one on ‘Protection of Human Rights in Europe’, Dr. Elena Cirkoviç from Bilkent University gave one on ‘Operations in Iraq, Syria and Yemen’, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pınar Ölçer from Leiden University gave one on “Comparative Law and Human Rights” and Dr. Valentina Azarov from Palestine on ‘Palestine and Human Rights’. The program ended with the presentation of certificates.

The participants visited relevant historical and contemporary locations in addition to the program.
