Cooperation Protocols Were Signed Between TÜBA and PAS

In the visit made by Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu to Pakistan on February 18-19, 2015 he participated in the fourth Turkey-Pakistan High Level Strategic Cooperation Council meeting with his Pakistani counterpart Navaz Şerif. Foreign Affairs Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Minister of the Environment and Urbanization İdris Güllüce, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yıldız, Minister of the Economy Nihat Zeybekçi, Minister of Health Dr. Mehmet Müezzinoğlu, Minister of Transportation Lütfü Elvan and TÜBA Chairman Ahmet Cevat Acar and Chairman Advisor Prof. Dr. İbrahim Kaya as well as other organization administrators participated in the visit also.

After the council was held 11 agreements were signed between the prime ministers and ministers of Turkey and Pakistan. In this scope “Cooperation and Scientific Cooperation Application Protocols” were signed between the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA) and the Pakistan Academy of Sciences (PAS) by TÜBA Chairman Prof.Dr.Ahmet Cevat Acar and PAS Chairman Prof. Dr. Anwar Nasim.

The other agreements signed between the two countries are  as follows: a cooperation protocol between the Ankara Chamber of Commerce (ATO) and the Pakistan Chamber of Commerce, a cooperation protocol between ATO and the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry, a cooperation protocol between the Kayseri Chamber of Commerce and the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry, an agreement memorandum between the Turkish Accreditation Institute and the Pakistan National Accreditation Council, a cooperation protocol between the Turkish Paten Institute and the Pakistan Intellectual Properties Institution, a record of agreement between the TPAO and Pakistan correspondent Oil and Gas Development Company (OGDC) and Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL), an agreement memorandum on the brother port relation and cooperation between İzmir and Karachi and the Protocol on Agreeing to Encourage and Preserve Mutual Investments.

In the ceremony that was organized at the Pakistan Presidential Palace after the ‘Turkey-Pakistan Work Forum’ following the signing ceremony, the Medal of the State of Pakistan was conferred upon Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu by President Memnun Hüseyin.

In the scope of the program the Academy Chairman Prof. Dr. Ahmet Cevat Acar visited the Pakistan Academy of Sciences Chairman Prof. Dr. Anwar Nasim. During the visit in which both sides expressed their how pleased they were concerning all of the agreements that had been signed, information and opinions were exchanged on the activities of the academies and further opportunities for cooperation. The visits, which were conducted on a very sincere note, were also attended by Dr. M. D. Shami and PAS General Secretary Prof. Dr. Zabta Khan Shinwari as well as TÜBA Advisor Prof. Dr. İbrahim Kaya.

Academy Chairman Prof. Dr. Ahmet Cevat Acar, who had participated in the visit with the Prime Minister, pointed out that Pakistan was the 23rd country and PAS was the 24th academy with which TÜBA had signed an agreement with ad added: “The protocols signed between TÜBA and PAS constitute and important turning point and foundation to positioning our existing relations with our brother country Pakistan’s people and scientists into a formal framework and developing these relations. I am very pleased that this agreement, which I believe should have been signed a long time ago, considering the closeness between our two countries, has been made by us. It is also very pleasing that the same feelings and thoughts were expressed by PAS Chairman Prof. Dr. Anwar Nasim and PAS members during our meetings. In the framework of the agreement and application protocols that we have signed we plan to organize bilateral scientific meetings, symposiums, conferences and workshops between TÜBA and PAS and a transformation in information-publication-scientists. Also during our meetings we agreed that additional agreements may be facilitated as necessary to improve the relations and cooperation between the two academies.”
