Academy President Prof. Dr. Ahmet Cevat Acar and Academy Council Member Prof. Dr. Ahmet Nuri Yurdusev participated in the IAC Board Meeting 2013
The InterAcademy Council (IAC) Special Board meeting was held between 24-26 June 2013 in Amsterdam. Academy President Prof. Dr. Ahmet Cevat Acar and Academy Council Member Prof. Dr. Ahmet Nuri Yurdusev represented TÜBA in this meeting.
TÜBA is a member of the IAC since 2005. IAC was founded in the year 2000 under the umbrella of the IAP (Global Network of Science Academies) with the mission to lead research projects on important global issues.
The IAC Board Meeting ended with the elections for the new Board (2013-17) and one of the Co-Chairs. TÜBA was a member of the IAC Board for two consecutive terms (2005-2009 and 2009-2013), therefore, TÜBA’s membership ended. One of the IAC Co-Chairs,
Prof. Robbert H. Dijkgraaf, representing the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences was re-elected for a second term. Prof. Yongxiang Lu (past President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences) was replaced by Prof. Daya Reddy (President of the Academy of Science of South Africa) as the new IAC Co-Chair.
