“The Great Steppe” Social Science Forum and Board Meeting of TWESCO is held in Astana.

"The Great International Steppe: Social Science Forum" organized by the Turkish International Academy (Turkic World Educational and Scientific Cooperation Organization-TWESCO), Atatürk High Institution of Culture, Language and History, and the first Presidential Library of Kazakhstan, also supported by TÜBA, Turkish Language Association and Turkish Historical Society was held in May 23 - 24 in Kazakhstan's capital Astana on May 23rd-24th.

Scientists from 20 different countries, the presidents of academies, diplomats and bureaucrats were attended to the forum, held for the first time in Kazakhstan. The initial aim of the Forum, which was organized for Turkic Language Day within the scope of independence of Turkic Speaking Countries’ 25th year anniversary was to investigate the contributions and the role of cultural values of the Turkic world to the development of humanity, but also to examine the tendencies, which contribute to new research orientations related to Turkic World. Scientific results obtained from fundamental studies about “Contemporary Turkology” and experiences were shared, along with exchanging ideas, daily matters were discussed and options related to collaborative work were evaluated. Also, the Turkic World Universities’ Agreement was signed at the Forum.
