2015 Academy Prize Laureates

2015 Academy Prizes have been awarded to Niyazi Serdar Sarıçiftçi, Zulfiqar A. Bhutta and Mehmet Genç.

Niyazi Serdar Sarıçiftçi, of Linz Johannes Kepler University, nominated by the Austrian Academy of Sciences, received the prize in the category of Basic and Engineering Sciences in recognition of his works in the field of organic photovoltaic cells capable of efficiently converting solar energy to electrical energy by combining polymers with C60 molecule.

Zulfiqar A. Bhutta, of University of Toronto and Aga Khan University, nominated by the Pakistan Academy of Sciences, has been awarded in the category of Health and Life Sciences in recognition of his studies in the field of family health including epidemiological researches about maternal and infant health and his works that constituted the basis for the formulation of health policies.

Mehmet Genç, of Istanbul Şehir University, nominated by TÜBA member Mustafa Çiçekler, has become the receiver of the prize in the category of Social Sciences and Humanities in recognition of his studies that developed a new method and perspective (the formula of provisionism-fiscalism-traditionalism) and innovative explanations (iltizam, malikane, esham, yed-i vahid) in the study of Ottoman economic history.
