TÜBA-GEBİP Member Assoc. Prof. Gazi Huri has been Selected as “ABJS-Member”
2018 TÜBA-GEBİP Member and Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine Department of Orthopedics & Traumatology Faculty Member Assoc. Prof. Gazi Huri has been selected as a member of Association of Bone and Joint Surgeons-ABJS.
Orthopedics & Traumatology Specialist Dr. Gazi Huri, who took the international patent with his invention that extends bone length up to 1 centimeter a day and 4 centimeters in total, has been elected as a member of ABJS, at where surgeons direct orthopedics science in the world.
Who is Assoc. Prof. Gazi Huri?
Dr. Huri earned his degree in medicine and surgery at the Ankara University School of Medicine. He got his orthopaedic training at the Hacettepe University School of Medicine, Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, Ankara, Turkey. He continued his education with a clinical research fellowship at John Hopkins University, Baltimor USA and with observerships at hospitals in Austria and Switzerland.
Dr. Huri currently practices at the Hacettepe University School of Medicine which is one of the oldest and leading universities in Turkey. The hospitals orthopaedic department provides services to both Hacettepe Adult Hospital and Hacettepe İhsan Doğramacı Children's Hospital.
Dr. Huri specializes in sport injuries, especially in shoulder, knee and elbow cases performing about 500 elective sport medicine cases annually: 50% shoulder (sport medicine, reconstruction, arthroplasty), 30% knee (sport injuries, arthroplasty), 15% Trauma and 5% others. He has a well-organized patient database starting from 2009 and including more than 4000 patients.
Dr. Huri authored multiple publications and presented in many orthopaedic events; he is an active volunteer in several local community organizations. Dr. Huri is a member of several medical and orthopaedic societies, including leadership positions in Federation of Orthopaedics Trainees in Europe (former president); Turkish Young Orthopaedics and Traumatology Surgeon Council (founder president), which is an official branch of Turkish Orthopaedics and Traumatology Association; European Board of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (National Delegate, Turkey Representative); European Federation of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (EFFORT, ex-Board Co-opt member), and several others.
As a 2018 AAOS International Scholar, Dr. Huri attended AAOS/OTA Orthopaedic Trauma Update in Tactics and Techniques surgical skills course in the Orthopaedic Learning Center in Rosemont, IL and had an observership program at the Stanford University Medical Center.
