Prof. Dr. Şeker Visit to the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences
TÜBA President Prof. Dr. Muzaffer Şeker visited the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS). Prof. Dr. Şeker, met with ANAS President Prof. Dr. Arif Hashimov within the scope of bilateral cooperation. TÜBA President Prof. Dr. Muzaffer Şeker expressing his satisfaction with his visit to ANAS, he said that he planned to visit the science center in Azerbaijan earlier but could not make the visit due to the pandemic.
Expressing that the establishment of TÜBA was based on the Encümen-i Dâniş, Prof. Dr. Şeker informed that the foundations of the Academy were laid at the end of the 18th centuries, it suspended its activities for various reasons and was officially established in 1993. In addition to technological research, TÜBA carries out important research for the protection of human health, biotechnology and increasing the country's defense capabilities. This process is carried out with the joint participation of the Turkish private sector, higher education institutions and the Ministry of Industry and Technology. He said and noted that nearly 45 scientific works exhibited in TEKNOFEST Azerbaijan will be donated to ANAS.
ANAS President Prof. Hashimov expressing his pleasure to see TÜBA President Prof. Dr. Şeker, and said, “Friendly and brotherly Republic of Turkey has made great progress in new technologies and military industry in recent years. We closely follow their experiences in Turkey-made unmanned aerial vehicles and other fields in many countries of the world and take them as an example. We are proud of Turkey's success as a sister country.” He emphasized the importance of cooperation between ANAS and TÜBA in the field of technology.
ANAS Vice Presidents İsa Habibbayli and İrada Huseynova, Head of Science Policy Department Prof. Dr. Rustam Rustamov and Head of European Union Relations Department Assoc. Prof. Esmira Alirzayeva also took part in the meeting.
