Principal Member of TÜBA, Prof. Dr. Ekmel Özbay: ”Developed infrared cameras will be in use in many areas”
Turkey’s first national camera which is supported by Ministry of Development, Department of Technology, Defense Industry Undersecretariat, MSB ArGe and TÜBİTAK and performed by collaboration of Bilkent, ODTÜ and Gazi Universities is been producted after the studies on InGaAs based high performance camera technology.
Nanotechnology Research Center President and Principal Member of TÜBA, Dr. Ekmel Özbay stated that” Developed as national new generation smart infrared cameras will be in use in aerospace, aviation, defense, security, health and transportation areas.” Flight cancellations caused by heavy fog on the air are won’t be a problem owe to the cameras that work with the infrared waves that not able to seem by human. The cameras set in the airplane will be able to notice the lights on the runway. Takeoffs and landings will be properly even in foggy weathers.
Vehicle plates and inside of vehicles will be able to view at night through these cameras set on the roads in traffic control applications.
