Winners of TÜBA’s GEBİP Awards Announced

TÜBA’s 2016 Outstanding Young Scientists Awards (GEBİP) were granted.
105 applications were received for the 2016 GEBİP program in the fields of natural sciences, engineering sciences, health sciences and social sciences, and 31 scientists, named below, were granted awards. Award winners will receive an annual grant of 20 thousand Turkish liras for 3 years, and doctoral students in the process of writing their dissertations will receive an additional grant of 6 thousand liras.
TÜBA President Prof. Ahmet Cevat Acar said TÜBA Award ceremonies have been sponsored by the President’s Office from 2015 onwards, an important development for the Academy and the scientific community, and thanked President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for his sponsorship and support. Prof. Ahmet Cevat Acar said the number of outstanding young scientists awarded by TÜBA reached 404 with the 2016 awards and added that the awards programs of the Academy were important for encouraging scientists and the Academy would continue offering and expanding the awards.
“TÜBA’s GEBİP and TEÇEP awards, which are among the most distinguished awards in Turkey in their respective fields, will be presented to winners in a ceremony sponsored by the President’s Office, together with Academy Prizes to be announced over the coming days. Applications for TÜBA’s 2017 GEBİP and TEÇEP awards will be invited soon,” Acar said.
TÜBA’s GEBİP awards are granted on an annual basis to young scientists who work in Turkey and who are distinguished by their outstanding work, to support their research, help them assemble research teams, and encourage young scientists to conduct their outstanding research in Turkey.
