TÜBA&EMAN Symposium on “Exploring the Commonalities of the Mediterranean Region”

Symposium on “Exploring the Commonalities of the Mediterranean Region” jointly organized by TÜBA and Network of the Academies of Mediterranean Countries - EMAN and supported by Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency will be held on November 6-7, 2017 at Istanbul Sura Hagia Sophia Hotel.
Saying that the Symposium was a fertile ground for economic, political, social, cultural and educational development, TÜBA President Prof. Dr. Ahmet Cevat Acar continued his speech as follow: “This symposium will help to develop a comprehensive analysis of these elements widely shared by the Mediterranean region countries and the regional cooperation. EMAN is promoting communication and cooperation with the science academies of the countries around the Mediterranean rby organizing various events in the member countries. This symposium, which will be held by TÜBA, aims to discuss the common areas of the Mediterranean region by bringing together representatives of EMAN members and other academicians. Five panels will be organized in different topics in the symposium.”
The opening ceremony of the Symposium, which will include participants from Montenegro, Algeria, Croatia, Bosnia, Israel, Macedonia, Romania and Turkey will be made by TÜBA President Prof. Dr. Ahmet Cevat Acar, TÜBA Vice-President Prof. Dr. Ahmet Nuri Yurdusev, and EMAN President Prof. Dr. Pavao Rudan. Prof. Dr. Halil Berktay from Ibn Haldun University will make a presentation about “The impact of the Mediterranean on Eurocentrism, the East-West divide and the periodization in history”.
The symposium will end with a general evaluation and a city tour on November 7.
