The inventions of TÜBA Council Member Prof. Fikrettin Şahin, TÜBA Principal Member Prof. Yunus Söylet, 2016 TÜBA-GEBİP Award-winner Assoc. Prof. Mustafa Serdar Önses, Assoc. Dr. Devrim Pesen Okvur's were deemed worthy of the award at Istanbul International Invention Fair-ISIF'17 ceremony organized by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office on March 5, 2017 with the participation of Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Faruk Özlü.
Prof. Şahin won a total 6 medals include one gold, one silver, three bronze and Turkish Patent and Trademark Office Best National Invention Award, Prof. Söylet and GEBİP Member Assoc. Prof. Önses won one gold medal and GEBİP Member Assoc. Prof. Okvur won one bronze medal.
Prof. Dr. Fikrettin Şahin was the most awarded name at the fair with his inventions on “lyophilized biopesticide effervescent granule and production method thereof, biological fertilizer and preparation method, polymer-based hydrogel, a product preventing hair loss, antimicrobial textile products and method of obtaining thereof and antiviral gel combination”. Prof. Yunus Söylet was also among the medal-winning scientists in his study of the "alt urinary system 3d imaging method and related apparatus". TÜBA-GEBİP Member Assoc. Prof. Mustafa Serdar Önses with his invention on “mechanically robust nanocomposite superhydrophobic coatings” and TÜBA-GEBİP Member Assoc. Prof. Devrim Pesen Okvur with her invention on “microfluidic device for investigation of distance dependent interactions in cell biology” were deemed worthy of the award.
