EPO Patent for TÜBA Principal Member Prof. Çelik’s “Harvesting Machine” Invention

TÜBA Principal Member and TÜBİTAK Vice President Prof. Mehmet Çelik's application for the European Patent Office (EPO) on behalf of the invention of the "Resonance Adjusted Harvesting Machine" for olives and similar fruits was accepted.

The EPO patent includes ideas in the design of the machine that will enable trees to maximize blend efficiency without damaging trees, with minimum energy use and cost, by driving on fruit resonance frequencies in the process of collecting fruit like olive, almond, apricot, plum, mulberry, walnut trees which requires labor based on body/physical force.

The most important feature of Prof. Çelik’s invention is that the resonance of the vibrations is effectively used in fruit harvesting. The natural frequencies of the fruit vary according to the maturity of the fruit. The Resonance Adjusted Harvesting Machine adjusts to the resonance frequencies of the olive maturity (green, pink, black) to achieve the desired harvest without spilling all the fruit.

The farmers can comfortably adjust the harvest with the flexible harness bar with the control steering wheel, which makes the on-off and branch grip hook adjustment. Thanks to the adjustable branch grip hook with remote wire control, the fruit branches are shaken without being damaged. The machine is able to harvest the mobile electric energy with a three-stage resonance knob with a power system that can be used and the vibrating structure is being transported by a three-wheeled car or tripod. The farmer is not tired due to the jerky weight and it allows him to harvest with one person.
