TÜBA Received Award from the Turkish Language Society
Academy President Prof. Engin Bermek received the 75th Year Award of the Turkish Language Society on behalf of the Turkish Academy of Sciences, at a ceremony held on 26 September 2007. TÜBA was deemed worthy of this award for its "works to enrich and update the Turkish scientific language in scientific terms".
The Academy Council set up a working group of experts from various disciplines, to start up and coordinate the related activities of the Academy in 2001. Groups of experts have been working on four different dictionaries within this project: Dictionary of Natural Science Terms, Dictionary of Medical Terms, Dictionary of Social Science Terms and Dictionary of Engineering Terms. These dictionaries which are very near completion and will be published in 2008 are expected to comprise around 100 000 basic entries corresponding mainly to scientific terms.
