Prof. Acar gave Güzeloğlu a gift from Academy publications. TÜBA President Prof. Dr. Ahmet Cevat Acar, TÜBA and YÖK Member Prof. Dr. Mehmet Emin Yılmaz, Vice Rector of Dicle University Prof. Dr. Tahsin Kılıçoğlu and Prof. Dr. Ali Kemal Kadiroğlu, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Prof. Dr. Aydın Ketani, and scientists from different fields and universities attended the symposium held in the DÜ Heart Hospital Conference Hall. In the symposium, “The Role of Media, Nutrition Principles, Poultry Meat, Egg, Milk and Milk Products” and sub-headings were discussed.

TÜBA President Prof. Dr. Ahmet Cevat Acar “The results of the symposium will be reported and this report will be shared with the public.”
Thanking to the scientists who have contributed to the symposium, Prof. Acar said: “Food and nutrition is a very important subject of human life. Each of us has a nutritional habit that is appropriate or not. We all know that there is an imbalance on earth; one side is suffering from poor nutrition while other side experiences the problems from malnutrition. In recent years, obesity has become increasingly more and more people’s problem. In particular, the negative effects of ready-made, processed foods and additives are always on the agenda. The question of the effects of the interventions on animals and foods that seem to be based on reasonable grounds are the unforeseeable effects are among the subjects of the scientific world.”

Executive of Food and Nutrition Working Group Prof. Dr. Kazım Şahin: “Our country needs the Institute of Metabolism Diseases and Nutrition Institute.”
Saying that TÜBA organizes workshops, symposiums and congresses on a regular basis in order to raise awareness in the society, Prof. Şahin added that detailed reports prepared as a result of these studies will be shared with TÜBA's stakeholders and other relevant institutions. Emphasizing that it is a sacred duty to announce, comment and making criticism of events and inform society, Prof. Şahin continued his words as: “As in the whole world, informing our society accurately and rapidly about the latest developments regarding the principles of nutrition and nutrition in our country has great importance. In this context, scientists who are experts in the subject should feel the responsibility on them and inform the society through the media in the light of scientific data. In different countries, there are different discussions about nutrition in the developing world. While the underdeveloped countries are talking about malnutrition and hunger, , the developed countries that have higher living standards, discuss healthy food, organic food, reliable food and many studies are being done all over the world. However, in such an important area, the number of high quality projects and publications carried out addressing our country is very low. In this context, it would be useful to establish a much needed Metabolism Disease Institute in our country. I also think that it would be useful to establish a Nutrition Institute which I think is needed in our country.”

Four sessions were held at the symposium. The symposium ended after the General Evaluation Meeting and the social program held on 27 April.
