TÜBA-GEBİP Award Winner Prof. Dr. Özgür Barış Akan Received the ‘Sedat Simavi Award’
2008 TÜBA-GEBİP Award Holder Prof. Dr. Özgür Barış Akan was granted the 2015 Sedat Simavi Award in the category of sciences.
The Selection Committee found Koç University Electrics-Electronics Engineering Academic Member Prof. Dr. Özgür Barış Akan to be “deserving praise” in the category of natural sciences with its work “Physical Model and Analysis of Förster Resonance Energy Transfer (FRET) Based Nano Molecular Communication Channel”. Prof. Dr. Akan was unable to attend the ceremony, Murat Kuşçu received the prize on behalf of him from the hands of the Vice General Secretary of the Turkish Journalists’ Association, Niyazi Dalyancı.
Assoc. Prof. Murat Somer was awarded the Social Sciences Award with his work “Return to the Beginning: The Three Dilemmas of the Turkish and Kurdish Question from the Nation-State to the State-Nation”.
Assoc. Prof. Dr Zübeyir Çınkır won the Natural Sciences Award with the piece “Measuring the Polarized Metric Graph Invariants Using Split Laplace Matrix”.
Several invitees attended the ceremony which was organized on 11 December 2015 at Taksim The Marmara Hotel for the “Sedat Simavi Awards” that have been given to artists, journalists and scientists in 9 different areas as journalism, radio, television, literature, social sciences, physical sciences, health sciences, visual sciences and sports in the name of the Founding President of Turkish Journalists’ Association, Sedat Simavi for 39 years.
